USCIS has released data on the FY 2026 H-1B cap season:
Registrations dropped by 27%, from 470,342 in FY 2025 to 343,981 in FY 2026.
The number of unique employers rose by 9%, but registrations per employer fell by 33%.
USCIS selected 35% of registrations, meaning 65% were rejected due to the 85,000 visa cap.
Only 25% of eligible registrants will ultimately receive new H-1Bs this year.
🔁 USCIS may conduct a second lottery if the H-1B visa cap is not reached during the first round of H-1B cap petitions.
✅ This was the second year of the beneficiary-centric selection process, which helped reduce duplicate or fraudulent filings.
📊 Despite fewer entries, demand remains strong. Experts note that visa scarcity continues to push companies toward alternative visa strategies.
